A Happy New Year… and a Thought About Kids
Happy New Year from all of us at Q Magnets.
Like many parents, my inbox has recently filled with reminders about kids heading back to school. It got me thinking about something a little less talked about, but very familiar to anyone with children: the inevitable bumps, knocks, and bruises that come with growing up.
Kids fall. They collide with furniture. They misjudge corners in the backyard. It’s part of childhood. And it’s exactly why we’ve always kept Q Magnets close at hand.
A Real-Life Example from Our Family
Years ago, our daughter was running in the backyard late one evening and smashed her shin hard into the guinea pig cage. There were tears, immediate pain, and the sort of impact every parent recognises.
We placed a Q Magnet directly over the area straight away.
The result surprised even us: negligible pain within a short time and a very fast recovery. We documented the process with photos, which you can still see here:

That post dates back to 2010, when she was just 11 years old.
Head Knocks and the “Egg” That Never Came
A doctor later relayed a story that has always stuck with me.
A young child hit their head hard on the edge of a table. The parents immediately placed a Q Magnet over the impact area. Instead of the predictable “egg” swelling, there was almost no swelling at all.
After a few days, what remained was a clear white circle beneath where bruising and inflammation would normally be expected.
Hardly any swelling. Hardly any pain.
That kind of response is something we hear again and again when magnets are applied early.
Keeping Kids Playing the Sports They Love
Another example involved a teenage school friend of our daughter, Brooke. She had ongoing knee pain that was stopping her from properly playing hockey, her favourite sport.
Using just two magnets, applied according to our knee placement protocol, the pain relief was significant enough that she could return to playing with almost no discomfort.
For a young athlete, that kind of difference matters.
Timing Matters
If there’s one takeaway from all of this, it’s this:
The sooner a magnet is applied after trauma, the better the effect.
That’s why having a set on hand makes all the difference. You don’t want to be waiting for delivery after the injury has already settled in. New Year Competition 🎁
To kick off the year, we’re offering 3 General Use Sets to our community.
Over the next 3 months, we’re inviting parents to share their best images or stories showing how Q Magnets have helped their kids recover from everyday bumps, bruises, or sporting knocks.
Important note:
You’ll need to already have your own magnets to participate. Early application is key, and we want to see real-world, timely use.
To enter:
Simply send your images to cs@qmagnets.com, with the subject “Recover Faster MagnaBlog Competition”.
It’s best to submit at least three images. One, shortly after the injury, the second with the magnet applied and the third as the magnet is removed after at least two days. You can provide more images if you like, like each day after the injury.
Here’s to a healthy, active year ahead for you and your kids.
James Hermans and the Q Magnets team.
